Fans of The Witcher have a new reason to return to the Path. Geralt of Rivia is officially coming back in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, a brand-new story expansion scheduled for release in 2027.
Geralt Is Back
The upcoming expansion brings back Geralt for another monster-hunting adventure. This time, players will travel to Letten, a new region described as the idyllic homeland of the bard Dandelion. However, the peaceful-looking land hides a darker mystery beneath its surface.
The new adventure is being developed by CD PROJEKT RED together with Fool’s Theory, a studio that includes veterans who previously worked on The Witcher 3.
What to Expect From Songs of the Past
The new expansion is expected to bring a fresh storyline, new characters, quests, enemies and locations. Geralt will also face previously unseen monsters and receive new combat options.
One of the revealed additions is a chain weapon, giving players another way to approach battles. New mutagens will also expand Geralt’s combat possibilities.
The Witcher 3 Remastered Is Also Coming
Geralt’s return will be followed by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, which launches on September 29, 2026.
The remastered version includes improvements to visuals, performance, gameplay and other parts of the experience. Existing owners of The Witcher 3 on qualifying platforms can receive the upgrade at no extra cost.
The Remastered edition will also arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 and Battle.net alongside PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S availability.
